The key to a healthy lawn this season is understanding your soil composition. The type of soil you have will help determine the needs of your lawn. Soil samples can help you determine the nutrient contents, soil layers, soil types, and pH levels of your lawn. Equipped with this information, you can now select the appropriate topdressing, fertilizer, and chemicals that your lawn needs to grow and flourish.
You can learn the soil type and layers by simply analyzing your sample, but for further in-depth analysis, you'll want to send your sample to a soil lab for testing.
Step 2: Aerate Your Lawn with a Landzie Fork Aerator
Landzie recommends aerating your lawn during peak growing periods - namely early spring or fall for cool-season grasses, and late spring through early summer for warm-season grasses, as this will help the grass recover more quickly.
