    Description

    Pre 1959 frontpiece personally collected when the FDNY switched to inserts. Organized in 1891 as Brooklyn Engine 30 at 59 Ellery St. Changed to FDNY Engine 30 in 1898, then Engine 130 in 1899. Finally Engine 230 in 1913. Moved to 894 Bedford Ave. with Ladder 102 in 1946 and to a new house at 701 Park Ave. in 1950. (Ladder 102 stayed at Bedford and got a new building with Engine 209 and Batt.34)
    Note the two badge numbers, under the 1496 is 553, obviously it was used by two different men.
